Keekle Bank Wood is a young woodland set on a sunny southerly slope with extensive views to the hill on the other side of the gentle valley and beyond in the distance to fells of Ennerdale. It represents a great opportunity to own woodland close to the Lake District National Park and the west coast of Cumbria.
Planting of this woodland was completed during 1998 and 1999 and the trees are developing well, the majority of trees growing are made up of a mix of broadleaves which include oak, ash, birch, alder, willow and occasional hazel with some larch, spruce and pine mixed in. The new owner of Keekle Bank Wood will be entitled to claim annual Farm Woodland Premium Scheme (FWPS) payments until the trees are 15 years old.
The stream know as Priestgill crosses part of the woodland which together with some more open areas of the wood adds to the habitat diversity. This is reflected in the flora found around the woodland, there are plenty of orchids and also some irises which are growing along side the watercourse, many other species can also be found. The habitat which Keekle Bank Wood provides is ideal for a wide array of animals and birds and is a great place for wildlife observation.
The wood is suitable for occasional family camping and would also make a great conservation project.
Access to the wood is via a solid track from the main road, the purchaser will be given a full right of access along the track at all times and for all purposes together with a key for the gate.
Note. Please be aware that the aerial photo on Google is approximately 10 years old and shows the trees in their newly planted condition.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
