Common spotted orchid, Dactylorhiza fuchsii
Leaves and stem
The leaves are broad, and spotted but the spots 'run' across the leaf (opposite direction to the veins). Sometimes, there are no spots particularly if the flowers are just white.
Flowers and Fruits
The flowers have a pale pink tinge with purple spots or streaks, and are closely packed together. Have a three lobed lip. The perfume of the flowers attracts day flying moths.
Ecology and other notes
Found in grasslands and woodlands, 'likes' chalky / limestone soils. Found in flower from June.
