Description
The woodland is a place where there is no need to hurry. Four Acre Wood has thrived without much intervention in recent times. Experience suggests that it is best to enjoy a cycle of seasons and take time to plan how best to enjoy a woodland. It may be principally as a place of retreat and enjoyment of nature with minimal interruption required. Or there is the option for much greater actively, to diversify the natural environment for the benefit of wildlife through further planting of native species and development of suitable habitat. Whichever route is preferred, the woodland here is an ideal ownership opportunity where there is always friendly advice available from neighbouring woodland owners, secure access and the timeless pleasure of nature to enjoy.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenantTrees
It is an unusual benefit for a small woodland to offer such a mix of mature oak, birch and ash and also an area of well established Douglas Fir. The contrast in these environments is one of the numerous appeals of this woodland as this change in tree cover offers increased wildlife habitat and diversity.
Wildlife
Where there is tree variety there is wildlife variety as this diversity of planting supports different species. The move towards greater bio diversity in the countryside is well recognised and here in Four Acre Wood, to some degree already exists. The foraging trails across the forest floor are testament to the level of animal activity and the tree variety encourages a range of birds and insects in the self sustaining ecosystem that results
Access, tracks and footpaths
Four Acre Wood is bordered entirely by clearly defined tracks running around the boundary giving it a self contained feel. The well maintained access track leading directly to the wood's entrance has recently been improved. This track is also a rural footpath that offers a great opportunity for a woodland owner to further explore the surrounding countryside. No public rights of way pass through Four Acre Wood itself.
Local area and history
Beyond Four Acre Wood the natural beauty of the surrounding area draws many visitors. Numerous walking trails cross the county including The Gloucestershire Way and Offa's Dyke Path. The Wye Valley offers a chance to enjoy the scenery from the water and the historic city of Gloucester provides all the facilities necessary for a comfortable camping experience or to begin the journey of managing your own wood.
