Description
A mixed open woodland surrounding a large shed makes Big Shed Wood a perfect retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenantTrees
A wonderful diverse woodland containing a mix of mature ash, silver birch, oak and beech along with Scots pine and holly. The woodland feels very open in winter but will soon explode into life as spring approaches.
Wildlife
Woburn Abbey is only 12 miles from the woodland. During the Victorian period Woburn introduced many deer species into the park, over time many of these deer escaped, especially Muntjac deer but also Red, Chinese Water Deer and Fallow deer. All of these deer have been seen in the woodland along with native roe deer.
The tree canopy hosts a variety of birdlife that includes buzzards, red kites, owls and woodpeckers.
Features
The woodland is level with plenty of small glades and a large shed sitting centrally. A fire pit has been dug in front of the shed. The previous owner camped in the woodland enjoying being surrounded by nature.
A rope and tyre swing is hung from one of the trees and endless hours of fun have been had in this natural play ground.
Access, tracks and footpaths
Full vehicle access to the woodland via the north western gate. This is a very solid stone track suitable for year round use.
Activities
Big Shed Wood is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a woodland surrounded on all sides by other areas of private woodland. A perfect place to take time out from modern day stress.
Already set up for family camping with a large shed and seating area.
Other activities could include conservation projects such as bird and bat box installation.
With five of the six UK species of deer here there is much to observe for those interested in watching wildlife.
Local area and history
The nearby town of Newport Pagnell was first mentioned in 1086 as Neuport, old english for 'New Market Town', but by that time, the old Anglo-Saxon town was dominated by the Norman invaders. The suffix 'Pagnell' came later when the manor passed into the hands of the Pagnell (Paynel) family.
Nearby Woburn Abbey, and Gayhurst House are some of the large manors located in Buckinghamshire.
