Description
Created around the turn of the century with the intention of establishing a wildlife habitat, Coggeshalls Wood is an ideal woodland for family forestry.
Now well established with an impressive number and variety of trees. The trees have grown well in these fertile soils and over the coming years the woodland will flourish creating a valuable source of timber.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenantTrees
The woodland is a wonderful mix of traditional British trees. 30% of the trees planted were oak followed in declining order with ash, cherry, rowan, silver birch, field maple crab apple and holly. 10% of the planting area was made up of woody shrubs to ensure the wood has a varied understory providing plenty of cover for wildlife.
Wildlife
Features
The woodland is level and due to the current age of the trees quite thick in parts. It will open up as the trees grow and an owner will have the benefit of seeing this transformation from thicket stage. Situated off a small lane the wood is surrounded by farms giving it a wonderful feeling of solitude and space. Two small glades or open areas already exist making perfect spots to camp.
Access, tracks and footpaths
The woodland is accessed direct from a lane via a five bar gate.
Activities
This woodland is in an ideal area to spend a well-deserved relaxing time amongst some amazing wildlife. To perfectly capture this, you could set up some wildlife cameras or even build a wildlife hide.
A wonderful place to spend time camping with family and friends.
Local area and history
Skegness is where you can find an array of great seaside traditions, promising there's always something awesome to see and do during your visit. Situated on the stunning Lincolnshire coast, Skegness has long been regarded as one of England's top coastal resort towns.
The nearby Natureland Seal Sanctuary is an excellent place in Skegness for an up-close look at some of nature's most magnificent creatures. Although the centre is dedicated to helping injured and abandoned seals return to the wild, you will also have a chance to see dolphins, whales, and an array of bird species.
Each year, a variety of marine life washes ashore in the areas surrounding Skegness. Fortunately, the Natureland Seal Sanctuary nurses these animals back to health before setting them free again. Here, you can explore the first-rate aquarium and take part in feeding times, as well as admire other animals like a family of meerkats and colourful species at a butterfly house.
The stunning Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve is just a short drive south of Skegness and offers access to some truly remarkable scenery. If you're hoping to explore the famous English countryside, this untamed hinterland is where you'll come across a wealth of breathtaking landscapes with enchanting wildlife.
Excellent for visiting throughout the year, this place is simply bursting with biodiversity. Alongside miles of sand dunes, freshwater lagoons and dense woodland, the Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve is a bird-watching wonderland, with brent geese, redwings, and skylarks all calling the place home.
