http://www.woodlands.co.uk/ The Logosol M7 a portable chainsaw mill. Chainsaw milling in woodland and forests. This is a short version as it's only got a 2.4 metre bed. The full size Logosol M7 is about 5 metres. The Western Red Cedar is turned into boards using the mill. The boards are then made into flat pack composters or raised beds.
First of all the top is taken off the log. Then it's flipped over so the flat edge is against the bed. To wind the deck up each click raise it by a quarter of an inch. Allowance has to be made for the thickness of the chainsaw blade which requires an extra click. So 4 clicks gives three quarters of an inch thickness to a board. Kester Westcott describes the process of creating planks from Western Red Cedar
