That was awesome, Thank you. I wish the younger generations would realise these old skills have helped develop the modern world. It a long way from mobile phones and tablets. But, ideas breed ideas, that is how we progress.
"Dibbers"? "Dibblers"!
Japanese saw just a saw which cuts on the pull stroke unlike typical western types. But we did and do have them. Doubt knives have changed much since days when bodgers could earn a real living.
There will come a day when a YT video will be about some oldster creating code for 3D printers. And the comments will read the same for the most part.
Like that clamp/vise used with drawknife. Seen that a couple of times. Think coopers use them too. And of course the treadle lathe. Looks easy enough to make.
Beautiful work
The Artful Bodger?
What a delightful video to see. Love the old woodworking crafts being displayed.
Very interesting and not just rough work but quite finished. Well done!
I used to consider myself as a bodger but in a different meaning of the word. In the army with REME and as an AA patrolman I had to make do with what was available within a limited time to get things moving again – temporarily!
such a great record of real skill
Very nice video of a lost art. This gentleman speaks well. Very professor like.
