What about for off griding in a log cabin?
Your little titter when people want to build a cabin in the woods only demonstrates your middle class credentials for true woodsmen to see.
Possibly if you can hide the house/whatever for ten years it can be retro actively given planning permission. But I'd expect nosy/people with nothing better to do will let the authorities know.
You'd still need planning permission to build on your farm land.Plus farm land is much more capital intense to purchase.
The only reason I know of for the government giving planning permission is if your woodland is so remote it would be almost impossible to manage the wood without living on site, due to there being no other houses within a reasonable distance to rent.
Can I build on my woodland?
Yes I can, I fell trees by the lake, built a road to get there. Then I made a modern log cabin with a sauna + boat dock with benches. In Finland. I know there are little forest areas in the UK left
and lots of people, fields, cities, villages, roads etc.
A few years ago I planted trees on a 2-hectare old field.
THAT STOPS THE NOES'Y BASTARDS SEEING ANYTHING, GREAT IDEA.
Planning laws are there to keep hippies, freeloaders and sundry scummy types out of the woods…….If you are genuinely working the woodland you will get consent to "be there legally", the laws to allow this all ready exist….but….it will take time for you to PROVE that your viable and not going to balls it up for future generations……..
you dont live in a free country……you live in a society…….get used to it.
Nhs is covered by national insurance. Welfare is covered by income tax. Council tax is a suggested contribution based on the price of the house NOT services provided, that is an act not a law yet it is backed by it. My council tax is just over £260 per month for 4 bin collections and street lights that go off from 1am till 5am ( When people like to break in) justifiable? No way. Educate yourself rufus. Same goes for you console. All the best Xavier.
