Slow connection? Watch in lower quality
Cumbria's woodlands are home to many iconic species including red squirrels. Sadly, our native reds are on the verge of extinction in England and the Lake District is one of the last strongholds for this creature greatly admired by the late Beatrix Potter.
Discover how local volunteers, rangers and charities seek to ensure the survival of this much loved woodland creature.

We need a huge Grey squirrel kull.
Awwwww…that is so so sweet!! I watched videos here on youtube (Scotland based) and it was said that presence of pine martens deals with greys in natural ways. They killed them and control their population to such extent that one day they are completely gone from those forests were pine martens rule….They do not kill or affect reds ! Reds thrive …pine martens are no threat to them…maybe you should research Scottish rewilding of reds and the part pine martins play in all of that and implement same strategy?…?…It is always better to find natural solutions….Let the Nature fix that wrong….
yep
Grey squirrels damage our natural habitat. A dead grey is a good thing. They don't belong here.
Your messege clearly shows you know nothing about nature or the environment. They eat birds eggs. Baby birds. They strip away bark. Killing trees and spreading disease. Whole eco societies will die out. The red squirrel eats nuts. Please do some research. It's very similar to the signal crayfish. Education.
You do also understand that we need to kill off thousands of deer too?
Shooting grey squirrels. A nature lover shooting animals. Loves Red Squirrels and shoots Greys. It all makes sense doesnt it? Unsubing now.
