What is a Woodland Allotment?

Slow connection? Watch in lower quality

In this film by accomplished film maker Oliver Crossland, we meet the Friends of Spud Wood to learn about their woodland allotment scheme. Director Jo Yellen explains how the scheme matches people who need wood to a woodland that needs some management. Trees that need to be thinned or felled are marked, and allocated to those in the scheme to come and remove the wood. Wood allotmenteer James Hurrell tells us about the benefits of the scheme, in terms of biodiversity and woodland management, but also for health and wellbeing. Jo also demonstrates the different tools they use.

Many thanks to The Woodland Trust for permission to film in their woodland. For more information on this woodland please see https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/woods/spud-wood/."
