Community Woodlands Projects

One of our main aims at Woodlands.co.uk is to get more people into woodlands, including those people and groups who can't afford to buy their own wood. For the last 2 years we have been running a community woodlands project and in that space of time we have had more than 500 requests from people who wish to use woodlands for activities involving the local community. We now have people who use our woods for children's groups, scouts, forest schools, social forestry, bushcraft courses, woodlands management demonstrations, off-road horse riding organisations, orienteering and coppicing.

As we have received such a large number of enquiries, we have decided to set up a forum to put community groups in touch with other woodland owners who would be interested in allowing their woodland to be used in this way.

Wiltshire area 25 miles radius SP4

Looking for SMALL woodland to run small scale radio controlled 4x4 trucks in friendly competitions. The land does not need to be, and is better if it is not, flat and can have debris and rocks on the land, these can all be repositioned and used to make obstacles for our trucks. The intention would be to set up a small course here that can be used by local Remote Control owners. These are not noisy to run as are all electric. Dover and surrounding area

I propose to establish a small camping facility comprising of unique cabin style accomodation. Theses cabins are eco friendly,made from sustainable resources and would comfortably sleep up to five persons. My aim is to provide low cost,comfortable,all weather facility for the tourism industry but also local families and community groups whom have an interest in exploring their surroundings. The cabins which would be used are small 11ft and blend in to most woodland settings and are an excellent alternative to existing camping sites within the South East. Ideally i would be looking to rent a piece of woodland/clearing of approx 4 acres which would enable me to establish a toilet/ shower area so water/electricity would need to be near. I would hope that in the future i would become self sustainable taking advantage of alternative methods of energy use which iam currently investigating. We would like to be able to take small groups of children to the woods for "Forest School". Making camp, climbing tress etc. We do not heed too much space prob not more than an acre. An enclosed space with a stream would be our ideal with the ability to build and leave for next time small dens, cam area etc. More details
